The AAJ Annual Convention is coming to Chicago this year, and I couldn’t be more excited. I call Chicago home these days, and I’m ready to play tour guide. RebuttalPR will once again sponsor the Leaders Forum Suite at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, and I can’t wait to see the plaintiffs’ bar community there.
Tips for First-Time Attendees
A few things worth doing before you land in Chicago:
Plan out your schedule. The full session lineup is available on the AAJ Annual Convention or on the Whova conference app. Don’t forget to block out time to recharge.
Set your networking priorities. This is a huge conference, which makes it easy to have a lot of short conversations and leave without having had the ones that matter. Identify two or three people you specifically want to connect with.
Bring something to talk about. If you’re looking to expand into a practice area or are hitting a roadblock on a case you’re working up, prep the questions you’re hoping this community can help answer.
Don’t skip the evening programming. The receptions and dinners are where the longer conversations happen. If your schedule, and your social battery, allows, stay for them.
Where to Eat in Chicago
Chicago’s food scene is a big part of why I moved here, and I’ve put together a few must-try spots for anyone who can sneak away from the conference floor:
Zarella for tavern-style pizza. Skip the deep-dish this time.
Cindy’s Rooftop for a great lake view and a solid lunch or afternoon bite.
Hawksmoor Chicago, a newer addition to the city’s steakhouse scene with a great vibe.
The Purple Pig and Lil’ Ba-Ba-Reeba for tapas and wine with great energy.
Girl & the Goat, worth the short “L” ride or cab out to West Loop.
See You There
If you’d like to grab a coffee or drink with me and the RebuttalPR team while you’re in town, please do not hesitate to reach out.
I look forward to seeing you in Chicago!
